Running the Red Light — Joanne Alfano

at the corner
of hate and hypocrisy
a predator swallows us
and unleashes
generations of anger

only a dynamic people,
brave politicians,
and policies that
reach through racism

can seize the nation’s heart,

can challenge

voter suppression

and chase freedom
